John Strohm, Friend - June 24, 2006

John Strom passed away on Friday night, June 23. John was always a strong supporter of our Ashland Retirees group and served as our Treasurer for many years.

A rosary will be on Monday evening at 7 pm and service at 1:30 pm on Tuesday. Burial will be in Pittsburgh. He will be missed.

Donna and I sat at the table with John and Mary Jane at Brady's Landing on the Ship Channel on March 8th at a Ashland Retiree luncheon.

San Antonio Trip - June 28-30, 2006

Two of our cousins from California will be visiting family in San Antonio the week of June 27 through July 3. Donna and I are going to drive over on Wednesday, June 28 and return to Spring on Friday, June 30. Winifred has a daughter, Patty and a son, Ray that live in the San Antonio area and Vivian is coming along for a fun trip.

San Antonio is one of 4 unique cities in the USA that includes NYC, New Orleans, San Antonio and San Francisco. The river walk and barge ride with a visit to the Alamo is a good trip to the downtown area. There is a chain of five missions along the San Antionio River that were established during the rule by Spain. Tours of Concepción, San José, San Juan, Espada, and the Alamo are always of interest.

Natural Bridge Caverens is just a short distance out of San Antinio. There is also Breckenridge Park and numerous museums in San Antinio.

Week of June 12 - 18, 2006

On Monday, the Silver Eagles enyoyed Hooters for wings and beer. Tuesday was the Cypresswood 50 Plus Club meeting at the Clubhouse. Wednesday was Ashland Retirees Club luncheon with election of officers and directors at the Willowisp Country Club. We had Daryl Love from Ashland Inc as our guest speaker. Thursday was the day the cleaning crew did our home and I set up my new Microtek SM i800 Pro scanner on my computer. Friday was car repair day with change of transmission fluid and filter and a tune up and new shocks on my Ford Crown Victoria. i also made a trip to Fry's Electronics, a radio shack on steroids. Saturday is Supper Club and Donna is prepairing Shrimp Creole for our friends and neighbors. Sunday is the big Fathers Day party at Dan and Tammy's home in Stagecoach. This has been an enjoyable week.

Silver Eagles - Monday, June 12, 2006

It is time for chicken wings and beer again so our Silver Eagles will meet for lunch at Hooter's on FM 1960 at I-45 to enjoy fine food in pleasant surroundings.

The second Monday of each month is the day we retired guys have wings and beer at Hooters. Many are from our subdivision but we also are joined by area friends.

A new web site is now up for Donna's high school class for their 50th reunion on March 30 to April 1, 2007 in Beaumont, TX. It is recognized by the GOOGLE search engine so that will help her clasmates find the web site.
