NYC Trip – Feb 27 – Mar 6, 2007

The stroke on Sept 24 delayed our trip to NYC. The flight attendant was not happy about taking our plane back to the gate while they put me in an ambulance. Now we are going for it again but without the fall foliage tour.

Lake effect snow has given us second thoughts about including Niagara Falls in this trip. We are going to Washington, DC to tour the Smithsonian Institute and other area sights on the front end of our trip. After 3 days of Washington, we stop in Philadelphia for a day before returning to NYC on Saturday.

Donna and I are staying on 32nd Street between Broadway and Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan. It has been several years since our last visit to the Big Apple so we are looking forward to this trip. We will drop our rental car at Newark Airport before we go into NYC as we love to ride the subways, buses and taxies. Even a ride on the Staten Island Ferry is fun. I know all five boroughs well as we lived in the area in the mid-70’s.

Mardi Gras - Tuesday, February 20, 2007

It was a good Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) as I passed my driving test at the DPS office. I can now drive my own car. The eye doctor signed the forms on Monday and the Occupational Therapist signed off on Tuesday just before the DPS gave me both an eye test and driving exam. We had a celebration lunch of Chicken Fried Steak with side orders of mashed potatoes, onion rings and stewed okra and tomatoes at Mel’s Café in Tomball, TX.

This afternoon, Donna and I played with the grandsons and then I drove home. Life is good!!!

Business Trip - Feb 5 - 8, 2007

Donna and I leave for Shreveport, LA on Monday as she is recruiting new hires for our government. She will be testing and interviewing in Shreveport on Tuesday, Center, TX on Wednesday and in Marshall, TX on Thursday.

My Uncle Harper lives in Shreveport so I plan to visit him while in the area. His daughter, Marsha Renee’ will meet us for dinner on Monday evening.
