Other cruises booked for December and February

Serenade Of The Seas - 6 Night Southern Caribbean Cruise - Dec 15, 2007

90,090-ton, 2,100-passenger vessel. One of our newest cruise ships, Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas offers the ultimate "at sea" experience by combining speed, added comfort, greater space, sweeping ocean vistas and an exceptional staff committed to serving your every whim. Among the ship's spectacular features are the ten-story glass-constructed Centrum, glass elevators facing the sea and the highest percentage of outside cabins in the Royal Caribbean fleet.

This cruise out of San Juan, Puerto Rico will visit the ports of St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Thomas as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico. Donna and I will not have any or our friends join us on this cruise.

Voyager of the Seas - 7 Night Western Caribbean - Feb 24, 2008
Donna has booked 3 cabins with Cruise Only for outside guarantee on the "Voyager of the Seas" out of Galveston for February 24, 2008. This is the largest ship sailing out of the Houston area at 142,000 DWT. Voyager of the Seas was built with the active traveler in mind. This beautiful ship is a revolutionary marvel of naval engineering. She features everything from a rock-climbing wall perched 200 feet above the ocean to a nine-hole, small-scale golf course. An ice skating rink and a separate in-line skate track, both with complimentary skate rentals, will provide a high seas adventure like no other. There's a golf bar, a sports bar, and even an aquarium bar. Dine in style in the three-tier dining room, go casual at the Island Grill, or try the onboard Johnny Rockets. All this is yours on a state-of-the-art vessel over three football fields long.

The ports visited on this cruise are Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Bay Island, Honduras; Progreso (Merida), Mexico and back to Galveston. We will be joined on this cruise by Hilda from Beaumont as well as my brother David and his wife Linda. This is the largest cruise ship that Donna and I have done a cruise on.

Vision of the Seas - Oct 28 out of Los Angeles

78,491-ton, 2,435 passenger vessel. Our cousins, Winnie and Bob, Vivian and Don will cruise with us on this voyage. Donna and I did this same cruise in 1994 out of LA on the Nordic Prince, another Royal Caribbean ship. This 7 Night Mexican Riviera Cruise has Ports of Call in Los Angeles, CA; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Mazatlan, Mexico and the port of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

After we return to Los Angeles, Donna and I will pick up a rental car and drive down to San Diego for a couple of days before we fly back to Houston on Nov 7. We like the area around San Diego and wanted to include it in our trip.

Senior Bus trip to Port Arthur - Thursday, Oct 25, 2007

We will tour the Museum of the Gulf Coast and then have lunch at Esther's Seafood & Oyster Bar. In the afternoon, we will visit the Dutch Windmill Museum in Nederland, TX. This will be a fun outing with our Ashland Retiree Club.

Oct 19 - 21, 2007 Weekend

It has been a busy weekend starting with my first drive-by flu shot on Friday afternoon. I drove through the parking lot at Methodist Hospital and had my shot while sitting in the drivers seat of the car. Donna and her "Beach Babes" rented a beach house for the weekend as they do every October. It is friends from her high school and some she has known since pre-elementary school. Dan and Tammy had a hotel room in Galveston and had to show our grandsons to all of Donna's friends at the beach house.

I went to Peg and Ed's home on Saturday for our Supper Club group that meets every month for dinner as a members home. Ed did a great job with the shrimp and Peg had a great spread to go with it. Drinks and conversation at the bar by the pool made for a fantastic evening entertainment.

It is time for chicken wings and beer again so our Silver Eagles will meet for lunch at Hooter's on FM 1960 at I-45 to enjoy fine food in pleasant surroundings.

Silver Eagles Poem

The second Monday of each month is the day we retired guys have wings and beer at Hooters. We go at 1:15 pm to avoid the lunch hour rush. Many are from our subdivision but we also are joined by area friends.
